More Elevenmile Trail Daze

Sunny day, light breezes, a shovel, a rake (of sorts), two buckets, one man and about 250 feet of washed-out trail, on a steep hillside.

Sounds like a job for the Curmudgeon.

Here's what I started with:

Washed out gravel: my materials source

View from the top, looking down the hill toward camp

Campsite gully

By 3 pm, this is what it looked like

Skies start to cloud over, as thunder rumbles to the north.

Inferior materials!

Five hours later: 250 feet of trail, 70 buckets of gravel, one broken rake.

Trail Daze in 11 Mile

Chilly start to the day

Erosion from last fall's tremendous storm

Problem solved

Chip, my prairie dog camp mascot

Chicken salad and Gatorade makes strong trail workers!

Walk-in campsite trail; new bed laid, waiting for white gravel

Work to do...

Home, sweet home

Oops... time to skeedaddle...

Springtime in the Rockies, Part III: Anything Worth Doing is Worth Doing Well.

"Chewie, I've got a bad feeling about this..."

A break in the action... and round two coming down the canyon.

Pasta, staple of the storm-bound camper

Curmudgeon, in his element

Frosted mulies!
